yes they do but there are things you can do to prevent damage.. before you iron or even blow dry you could spray in a heat protection spray ie: Beyond the Zone ';turn up the heat'; or Proclaim ';spray on glosser'; (both carried at Sally Beauty Supply) they will sheild your hair from the heat and prevent heat damage.





I would also recomend using a flat iron with a negative ion activator, these will usually run anywhere between 39.99 to 199.99 depending on the brand name and the retailer, but the negative ions will seal the hair's cuticle and lock in mousture leaving your hair smooth and very shiny.

whatever ';burns'; or ';heats up'; will damage your hair. sad but true. the best flat iron out right now is the ceramic one because its doesn't hurt your hair as much but will still damage it.
